What is Whiz?
Whiz is a blockchain-based global freelancing platform that offers verified high quality jobs and
freelancers at low costs to you.
How is Whiz different from the existing freelancing
platforms in the market?
Whiz does not charge commissions. You can save up to 20% of the job value, which is what traditional
freelance platforms charge as commissions for job matching.
Whiz uses blockchain to process and log transactions, including reviews. This translates to
authentic and
immutable (i.e. unchangeable) reviews, better quality jobs and freelancers, and cost savings for
you.
Job agreements are written in smart contracts, coupled with payment escrow, onto the blockchain. When
you
enter a job agreement on Whiz, whether as a hirer or freelancer, the job scope is mutually defined
and
cannot be changed by either party.
Payment is committed by the buyer, but locked away from either party into the smart contract until
its
fulfilment. Whiz does not have access to these funds at any point in time.
What is blockchain?
Simply put, blockchain is a type of database. Unlike conventional databases, however, the blockchain
records are transparent (without revealing personally identifiable information) and immutable. As
such,
records are trustworthy and do not require dedicated intermediaries to perform verification.
Why does Whiz use blockchain?
We want to ensure that user reviews are authentic and unchangeable, so that users will be encouraged
to
act in good faith. Over time, this will help build Whiz into a community of trusted, high-quality
job and
solution providers.
On the payment aspect, blockchain provides an alternative route to banks transfers, credit card
facilities and payment gateways, which typically charge processing fees of 3-6% on the transacted
amount.
Such fees are related verification of transactions, which is something that blockchain can do at a
far
lower cost (typically less than USD1).
Furthermore, blockchains operate 24/7, therefore transactions can be completed without being bound to
traditional business hours.
Which blockchain is Whiz using?
We are using Polygon (Matic) as it is one of the fastest, cheapest, and most reliable blockchain
networks
available.
Why cryptocurrency?
Only cryptocurrencies can be escrowed into smart contracts.
Which cryptocurrencies are used on Whiz?
USDC for payments, and ETH for blockchain fees (aka gas fees).
Currently, Whiz will support only USDC for payments. USDC is a stable cryptocurrency whose value is
closely approximate to legal tender US Dollar. However, we are looking to add more cryptocurrencies
in the
near future in order to better serve our users’ needs.
Can I purchase USDC and ETH on the Whiz platform?
We do not offer such service on Whiz. You may purchase them from trusted cryptocurrency exchanges in
